家门口的风景 法拉盛植物园

皇后植物园就在法拉盛缅街，所以我称之为法拉盛植物园。
对于居住在法拉盛的华人来说，这是位于家门口的风景。虽然没有布鲁克林植物园、纽约植物园那样漂亮，但一样空气清新，而且充满野趣。
（特别提示：门票4元。周三下午3-6点、周日下午4-6点免费）

皇后区植物园收费 民众抱怨

【侨报记者邹斌3月25日纽约报道】华人民众钟爱的位于法拉盛缅街的皇后区植物园将从4月3日起强制性向所有入园者征收门票费，这也是皇后区植物园近半个世纪以来首次向入园者征收门票费。由于经费紧张，皇后区植物园从2008年开始就不断面临数次被关闭的局面，此次强制性征收门票费也是皇后区植物园改革的前兆。市议员顾雅明对于皇后区植物园这一决定表示理解，而众多华人耆老则对植物园这一新规定表示反对。
据皇后区植物园的最新入园规定，从4月3日到10月31日，所有成人入园将征收4元，老人征收3元，儿童征收2元，所有皇后区植物园会员将免费入园。同时每周三下午3点到6点和星期日下午4点到6点，公园也将免费向民众开放。而从11月1日到明年3月31日，皇后区植物园仍将免费开放。
皇后区植物园董事局主席莫维斯卡（Frank Mirovsky）表示，决定征收门票费是一项很不容易的决定，也是经过深思熟虑的。莫维斯卡说，皇后区植物园强制征收门票费的主要原因是当前经济危机，私人以及公共资金都不断减少，从而造成皇后区植物园经费成为一大难题。据了解，皇后区植物园每年约需经费300余万美元，虽然大部分的经费由州政府和市政府拨款，但植物园自已也需解决一部分经费。植物园曾经先后与商家或机构开展园内“认领”长椅的项目，已筹集更多的捐款，帮助植物园渡过难关。
市议员顾雅明对植物园运作向来非常关切，当选市议员前也曾多次发动社区企业捐款，资助植物园运作。顾雅明指出，这两年因经济衰退，政府财政困难，植物园经费大幅缩减，许多植物园员工一周只上班三天，他能理解对入园者收费的不得已做法。顾雅明说，他正协助植物园申请市政府的活动补助，也呼吁企业界能踊跃伸出援手。
对于皇后区植物园将要征收门票费，很多早晨锻炼的华裔耆老纷纷表示反对，有的华裔老人认为皇后区植物园已经长达半个世纪免费开放，不能因为经费减少就将困难转嫁给民众。每次去锻炼或者散步都要付费，感觉不是很好。一位姓朱的老人说，公园内花朵将会陆续开放，这里将是氧气的制造厂，我们的家在法拉盛，如果公园收费后，我们将会丧失很多机会去公园散步。
据了解，皇后区植物园曾在2008年12月22日到2009年1月5日临时关闭了2个星期，公园2星期的关闭节省近5万5千美元经费。植物园为了节省开支，先后已经解雇了5名园内的工作人员，同时在植物园内的一些教育项目也随之取消。
