This article mainly introduces how to install and remove SCANIA DC13 series engines

step 

 1Remove - Generator 1 on the engine, use the battery main switch or disconnect the battery terminals to cut off the power supply. 

 2. Clean the area if necessary. You may also need to remove the base plate, etc. to facilitate access.

  3. Remove the load from the belt drive. See the "Timing gear" chapter. 

 4. Disconnect positive lead 30 and control lead. 5. Remove the alternator.

  INSTALLATION - GENERATOR ON ENGINE NOTE: Inspect the multi-groove V-belt/belt with belt

 tensioner and idler pulley for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 

 1. Install the alternator. 

 2. Install positive lead 30 and control lead.  

3. Install the belt drive. See the "Timing gear" chapter.  

4. Install fenders, hatch covers, etc. 

 5. Turn on the battery main switch or connect the wires to the battery terminals. examine

 Note: Do not operate the alternator without disconnecting the battery! This may cause the rectifier 

and/or voltage regulator to be overloaded or destroyed.

NOTE: To obtain correct results, the alternator should be maintained at a temperature of 20-25°C.

  Higher temperatures may result in lower current flow.

When the engine control unit generates a fault code for the alternator, the following tests can be 

performed.

Output test

Control voltage test

Stage measurement brush length

Slip rings, rotor resistance and overshoot
