How to change ignition coil on BMW E82 –replacement guide
This replacement procedure can be used for:
BMW 7 (F01, F02, F03, F04) ActiveHybrid, BMW X6 (E71, E72) ActiveHybrid, BMW 6

Unscrew the fasteners of the cabin filter housing cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.

Remove the cabin filter housing cover.
recommen:
Replacement: ignition coil – BMW E82. Do not use excessive force when
removing the part as this may damage it.

Remove the climate control sensors.

Unscrew the fasteners of the lower part of the scuttle panel. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.

Detach the cable duct from the upper part of the microfilter housing. Use a flat screwdriver.

Remove the engine cover.
Replacement: ignition coil – BMW E82. Tip:
Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may
damage it.

Detach the connector from the ignition coil.

Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from
corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.

Treat the ignition coil tips. Use high-temperature grease. Use a flat screwdriver.

Plug in the ignition coil connector

Install the engine cover and secure it.
Replacement: ignition coil – BMW E82. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with
respect to the guiding fasteners.
Do not apply excessive force when installing the part. Otherwise you may
damage the fasteners.

Screw in the engine cover fasteners. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.

Reinstall the lower part of the scuttle panel.

Screw in the fasteners of the lower part of the scuttle panel. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.

Install the climate control sensors.

Attach the connectors of the climate control sensors.

Install the wiper arm covers.

Attach the cable duct to the upper part of the microfilter housing.

Reinstall the cabin filter housing cover. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.

Warning! To avoid damaging the fasteners of the car during installation, do not
use excessive force. BMW E82

Screw in the fasteners of the cabin filter housing cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.

Remove the fender protection cover.

Close the hood.

Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.

Shut off the engine.

REPLACEMENT: IGNITION COIL – BMW E82. TOOLS
YOU MIGHT NEED:
1,Electronic spray
2,High-temperature anti-seize lubricant
3,HEX bit no.H5. Drive socket # 8
4,Ratchet wrench
5,Flat Screwdriver
6,Fender cover
Replacement: ignition coil – BMW E82. AUTODOC recommends:
1,The replacement procedure is the same for the ignition coils of all cylinders.
2,All work should be done with the engine stopped.
REPLACEMENT: IGNITION COIL – BMW E82. TAKE THE FOLLOWING
STEPS:

Open the hood.

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car

Unscrew the fasteners of the cabin filter housing cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.

Remove the cabin filter housing cover.

Replacement: ignition coil – BMW E82. Do not use excessive force when
removing the part as this may damage it.
Remove the wiper arm covers.

Detach the connectors from the climate control sensors.

Detach the connectors from the climate control sensors.

Remove the climate control sensors.

Unscrew the fasteners of the lower part of the scuttle panel. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.

Detach the cable duct from the upper part of the microfilter housing. Use a flat screwdriver.

Remove the lower part of the scuttle panel.

Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.

Remove the engine cover.
Replacement: ignition coil – BMW E82. Tip:

Detach the connector from the ignition coil.

Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.
