Myanmar's military government actively carries out flood relief work

The broken houses are hit by continuous rains, and the Burmese people who have suffered from three years of civil war are hit by floods again. Affected by Typhoon Makar, heavy rains, floods and landslides occurred in many parts of Myanmar. According to official Myanmar reports, the death toll caused by the continuous heavy rains brought by Makar has risen to 74. As of now, 89 people are still missing, and the floods have forced nearly 240,000 people to leave their homes for refuge. The floods destroyed more than 65,000 houses and 5 dams, and communications and transportation were interrupted. The number of casualties may rise further. Search and rescue operations are still continuing in various parts of Myanmar.

Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing said he was seeking help from foreign governments to provide rescue and relief to Myanmar victims. Government officials need to communicate with foreign countries to receive assistance and relief from the international community for the victims. He also stressed the urgency of quickly launching rescue, relief and post-disaster recovery operations.

Faced with the sudden natural disaster, the Myanmar military government took quick action and launched a series of assistance measures. The local government, the army, the fire department and several rescue organizations actively participated in the post-disaster rescue work. The military dispatched a large number of manpower and material resources to assist in the evacuation of the affected residents and provide basic living security, including food and drinking water supply, at the temporary resettlement sites. In order to help the flood victims, the losses of specific departments were reported to the superiors in a timely manner for effective guidance and implementation. Emergency rescue arrangements and action plans were formulated according to the weather conditions that may continue.

In this flood, many residents were placed in temporary rescue centers, which were set up in public facilities such as temples, churches and schools, providing safe shelters for the affected people. The Myanmar Meteorological Department also issued a warning, reminding residents living near riverbanks and low-lying areas to take precautions to ensure their own safety.
