Here is a new test about using Autel MaxiIM IM508 to add smart remote for Subaru XV GT Edition 2021 via OBD, no need online subscription.

The original Subaru chip is 8A RF430 433.92 MHZ FSK

Turn ignition on

Then operate on IM508 tablet (same procedure as OtoSys IM100)

Select Subaru>> Manual Selection>> Asia>> XV>> 2012-2020>> Smart key

Confirm the vehicle info detect out

Tap ‘IMMO Status Scan’

The number of registered keys is 2

Tap ‘Add keys (guided)’

Establishing vehicle communication…

Press ‘Start’ to add new key

Confirm to enter key learning (adding) procedure

Make sure all doors are in current positions during the learning period

Take the registered key (original) key close to the Start button

After hear 1 beep, put the key to passenger seat

Success

Then take the new key to be learnt close to start button

After all keys have been registered (also hear 1 beep on the new key), press ‘OK’

Now the number of registered keys is 3.

Turn off ignition button

Use the keys have been learnt to turn on ignition within 60 seconds

Program successfully

Finally, use the new key to start the car and test the remote, both OK.

For the 2020/2021 Subaru Smart Key AKL programming guide using IM608/IM508, please pay attention to the following notes:

• Don’t need online subscription.
• Network connection is required. It’s all by OBD
• You can use OEM, aftermarket, used new, old as long as it looks the same.
• They do lock but can be reset, not every device will do them, but some can. HYQ14AHK.
• Better use APB112 emulator key. If you don’t have APB112, you can do reset procedure. 2 steps: Just reset smart box and then add key.
