David Lee
David Lee is the Chairman & CEO of Hing Wa Lee Group and CEO of Hing Wa Lee Jewelers. As Hing Wa Lee's eldest son, he successfully remodeled the family business and led its transition from wholesale to the retail market.
Hing Wa Lee Jewelers
After graduating to become a master gem carver, Hing Wa Lee started his own factory at the age of 18, to produce and export gemstone carvings on a global scale. His talent was widely recognized and he was called upon by the Inter-Gem Mineral Society to perform restoration work at the Smithsonian Institute in the Washington D.C.
When he was in the United States, he decided to start a wholesale business. He imported gemstone carvings and sold them to retailers and galleries under the business name Hing Wa Lee Gallery.
In 1980s, Hing Wa Lee moved to Los Angeles and opened his first West Coast wholesale operation in the Downtown Los Angeles area. He began offering imperial jade and other gemstone jewelry to retail jewelers all throughout the United States.
David Lee, Hing Wa Lee’s eldest son, graduated from the Entrepreneurship program at USC Marshall School of Business, and joined the family business. He then spearheaded the re-positioning of the company to retail that caters to the growing Chinese-American market.
He opened their first luxury retail store in San Gabriel and brought in many renowned timepieces, in addition to jewelry. He also successfully expanded the business to finally build the legendary Hing Wa Lee Group.
